Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training Shafqat Mehmood inaugurated Product Expo 2021 at Khawaja Farid University and laid the foundation stone of Faculty Hostel.
Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training Shafqat Mehmood visited Khawaja Farid University of Engineering and Information Technology where But he was briefed about the ongoing academic activities at the university.
On his arrival at the University, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Suleiman Tahir warmly welcomed the Federal Minister along with his team. During the campus tour, the Federal Minister was briefed about classrooms, lecture theaters, laboratories, libraries, sports facilities, education, and research facilities. The Federal Minister inaugurated the Product Expo 2021 organized by the KFUEIT Technical Society.
He also laid the foundation stone of the newly constructed faculty hostel at the university. Talking to the media, he stressed that universities should propose solutions to the problems facing Pakistan through research. It is the responsibility of universities to promote the culture of research in the country.

Now we are close to its implementation and my personal wish is that this system is on a permanent basis. This year we have decided to start the new academic year in August and the new academic year is starting from August in government institutions. New universities are necessary but I want the development of existing universities.
The standard of old university faculties needs to be raised. Where there are five days of education, there will be only five days and where there are six days, there will be six days of educational activities. Replying to a question regarding making government buildings into universities, he said that the university project was underway in the Prime Minister's House.
The government has provided record scholarships to students under the Ehsas program. He appreciated the role of Khawaja Farid University in promoting education in South Punjab and said that it was a perfect model for all new universities. He appreciated the hard work of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Suleiman Tahir and his team and said that the use of modern ICT technology and improved lab infrastructure in the university has improved teaching and research.
Finally, Prof. Dr. Suleiman Tahir spoke about the Future Development Plan, the challenges faced, and the current status of the University and thanked the Federal Minister for coming to the University. Dean of All Faculties Prof. Dr. Asghar Hashmi, Associate Deans, Assistant Deans, and all Heads of Departments were also present on the occasion.
