BAJNOT FORT

ABOUT BAJNOT FORT

Mention the city of Rahim Yar Khan, this city is a beautiful combination of ancient and modern. The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan has a great hand in the innovation of this city. It is the favorite city of the sheikhs of Abu Dhabi where they come every year for hunting.

While Rahim Yar Khan's Abu Dhabi Palace, Sheikh Zayed Airport, Khawaja Farid Engineering University, and Sheikh Zayed Medical Complex are reflections of innovation, Baghala Fort in the north and south of the city, Sassi's proposed city Bhatta Vahan, Mau Mubarak's Fort, Qadeem Pattan.

The minaret, the tomb of Bibi Karam Khatun, and the fort Bijnot and Machhki are part of the ancient history and glorious past of this city. Rahim Yar Khan is one of the few historical cities in the world which has been established since its inception.

Were gone The city has been given many names in different periods including Alwar, Patan, Pholwada, and Nowshera. The reason for the current name of Rahim Yar Khan is that when the state's ammunition depot caught fire in 1881, the prince of the state, Rahim Yar Khan, was killed in the accident in which the city was named.

Secondly, a large city called Nowshera already existed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to which it was inevitable to change the name of this city. There are many mysteries of history buried in the vastness of Cholistan which no one has been able to know to date. But history buffs like us bring swings from these treasures from somewhere. One such secret is Bijnot Fort, one of the 22 forts of Cholistan.

WHERE SITUATED

Now we come to Bijnot Fort, which is about 90 km from Dravida Fort on the most difficult passages in the deepest depths of the desert. Km of paved road and the remaining 140 km of unpaved road with sand dunes in many places.

This fort is about 150 km from Rahim Yar Khan. The first name of this fort was Qila Wanjhrot. According to Tarikh-e-Murad, this fort was demolished by Shahabuddin Ghauri in 574 AH / 1178 AH, but according to Colonel Todd, this fort was built in 757 AH by Tanu, the son of Raja Kahar.

HISTORY OF FORT

This fort remained in ruins for some time. Then in 1171 AH / 1757, it was rebuilt by Moria Dad Putra. In 1759 AH Ali Murad Khan got this fort and repaired it. For two years this fort remained without repair.

The reason for the breakdown is the war between Pakistan and India in 1971 when Indian warplanes bombed the fort to allay their fears and tried to convince their people that we had destroyed Pakistan's check post but this is a lie. There was a rumor. It should be noted that India is 13 km away from Bijnot fort.

HOW TO GO FORT

A four-by-four-wheeler can only reach Bijnot Fort and it should also be a group of at least two vehicles so that, God willing, in case of a breakdown in one vehicle at another place, another vehicle will be available to help it. I want you to go on a bike alone in the desert to find Bijnut Fort without a guide and that too on a bike alone.

It is impossible and a suicide attempt. Anything can happen to you here. The bike chain breaks in the sand, punctures, engine. Seizures, straying, the sudden chance of rain, and then finding the fort is one of the impossibilities of suicide.

Stairs were also made inside these fortified towers in the fort. The height of the walls is slightly less than them. One tower has been completely demolished and the other three are in dilapidated condition. It was made of mud, but some parts and the door was made of bricks.

WHAT SAY THE CHOLISTANI PEOPLES

The Cholistanis say that our centuries-old cultural centers in the Cholistan are historical forts including Qila Bijnot, Qila Mojgarh, Qila Islamgarh, Qila Nawankot, Qila Marwat, Qila Mir Garh, Qila Ding Garh, and Ram Kali.

Due to the negligence, incompetence, lack of maintenance, and care of the CDA, the defeated trees have turned into mounds of mud and sand which will now be mentioned in the history books. But their effects are almost non-existent. On the contrary, most of the forts are gone.
