Project History
The plan for a 50-bed social security hospital for protected industrial workers has been delayed for eight years. Dispensaries operating under social security across the district are running out of the blue, yellow pills, and other medical facilities. Despite paying a monthly contribution of over Rs. 20 million from the industrial establishments, the industrial workers belonging to Rahim Yar Khan are totally deprived of the facilities for diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Members of the National and Provincial Assemblies across the district and officials of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry are also completely reluctant to take an interest in the construction of a workers' hospital and have never spoken to any authority in this regard. The issue has been raised.

Hospital Where Situated & Condition
Eight years ago, the Punjab government on a five-acre plot of land in the Muslim Chowk area of Rahim Yar Khan registered with the Department of Social Security for about twenty thousand workers of eighteen industrial units across the district with all the required facilities. The plan for the construction of the hospital was approved and in this regard, the concerned authorities have completed the work of four walls and installed a gate for the construction of the hospital at the said place. However, despite the lapse of eight years, the Social Security Hospital The construction project has not been completed due to which the registered and protected industrial workers are completely deprived of the best medical facilities.
Contribution of Labor
According to sources, 1800 industrial establishments, including seven sugar mills and two fertilizer companies in Rahim Yar Khan district, pay a monthly contribution of Rs 20 million for the treatment of their registered workers, while the social security department pays about three monthly dispensaries across the district. Medicines worth Rs. 1 lakh are provided and apart from medicines for minor ailments, neither diagnostic laboratories nor X-ray machines have been set up in the said dispensaries.
Delay Reason
Due to the delay in the construction of social security in Rahim Yar Khan district, the industrial workers suffering from complex diseases have to go to the Social Security Hospital in Multan for the required treatment, which is for the workers receiving meager salaries. It is very difficult. According to sources, despite the passage of more than four years, instead of taking up the post of District Director Medical Social Security, Director Medical Bahawalpur Dr. Asghar Ali Chaudhry has been given the additional charge of Rahim Yar Khan, Rahim Yar Khan visits once or twice while the plan to build a hospital, which has been stalled due to lack of interest from the medical director, has come to a standstill.
Sanctioned Funds
According to sources, more than Rs. 15 crore has been sanctioned by the concerned authorities for the construction of the aforesaid Social Security Hospital. However, the Commissioner Social Security Punjab has yet to start the construction work of the hospital. Due to which the construction of the hospital has been delayed, while six members of the National Assembly and thirteen members of the Provincial Assembly from Rahim Yar Khan District, including the relevant officials of the Rahim Yar Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industry There is a lack of interest in the construction of the building due to which the industrial workers registered in the social security are forced to consume blue and yellow bullets.
Conclusion
In this regard, Additional Director Medical Dr. Asghar Ali Chaudhry said that all the work related to the construction of the said hospital has been completed and the file has been sent to the Provincial Commissioner, Social Security Department for approval, on urgent basis in the next few days. The construction work of the hospital will be started and all the best treatment facilities including diagnosis, X-ray and ultrasound will be provided to the workers across the district on priority basis and this has been the case for the last four years. But there is a hospital that is not even taking the name of being built, the main reason for which is considered to be the negligence and carelessness of the officers and officials.
