In this modern world, education is the most important part of a nation's development journey. National development is not possible without a functioning education system and integrated education policies. The policies that Prime Minister Imran Khan mentioned in his first speech as soon as he took office were related to education, health, and poverty alleviation. Later, despite unfavorable conditions, the government continued its efforts to improve the education and health sectors on a priority basis.

While there was talk of a uniform education system in school education, research and development policies were formulated to improve higher education. Institutions were mobilized to promote technical and vocational education to reduce poverty. To make university education more accessible to the common man, the Ehsas Scholarship Program was launched, making it possible for millions of Pakistani university students to afford their own education.

Universities are, in a sense, independent in formulating their policies and universities always strive to formulate their policies according to the vision of the government. This is a difficult task for new and developing universities due to limited resources.

In this regard, Khwaja Farid University of Engineering and Information Technology is a shining star on the educational horizon of South Punjab which is not only showing the region new avenues of development in the light of higher education and skills but also educational management. Academic departments have been empowered and heads have been given new responsibilities as part of an integrated strategy to improve the quality of teaching and learning. New degree programs launched. In addition to improving infrastructure to improve research, teaching assistant jobs, and project grants were introduced for students enrolling in M.Phil and Ph.D. programs, which significantly increased the number of students enrolling in these programs. 

Research Work and Scholarships

Research published by the university more than doubled. The Government's Ehsas Scholarship Program was fully introduced in the University which resulted in the issuance of Ehsas Scholarship worth Rs. 220 million to 1740 students. Merit Scholarships offered by the University are in addition.

At present, there is not a single orphan in the university who is not getting a scholarship. Merit policy was strictly enforced in university admissions in a transparent manner. Not a single merit complaint was registered in the current semester admissions. The increase in the number of students in the university created new job positions in all the faculties on which recruitment was done on merit in a transparent manner under the vision of the Punjab Government and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Policy for Human Capital Development through Education and Training

The policy of Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Punjab government for human capital development through education and training to reduce poverty is very clear. Efforts are being made to increase technical education opportunities for youth in the country. To make young people skilled, their technical training is necessary to reduce unemployment. Khawaja Farid University of Engineering and Information Technology is an emerging university in Pakistan. All its policies are in line with the educational vision of the government.

Community development

Of course, the purpose of establishing this university is to build and develop the area and community development with higher education. Giving skills with a degree is the primary responsibility of universities. Keeping this responsibility in mind, the South Punjab Institute of Skill Development has been launched at Khawaja Farid University of Engineering and Information Technology this year in which forty diploma and degree programs have been introduced in collaboration with NAVTTC.

Diploma Programs

Students enrolled in diploma programs will also have access to training facilities in the university's high-tech labs, which will provide guidance to highly educated and trained faculty students. All courses are designed to meet the demands of the job market and the industry. The purpose of setting up this institute is to provide technical skills to the youth of the area so that they can get suitable employment in the country or abroad or start their own business.

At present more than eight hundred students are studying in different courses in the same institute. There is no doubt that Khawaja Farid University has austerity and simplicity, higher education, quality.

The policies pursued the promotion of teaching and research, education and technical skills will yield significant results in the areas of promotion of higher education, human capital development, poverty reduction, and development of the region. The University is striving for the development of the country in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan under the auspices of the Punjab Government, for which Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Suleiman Tahir and his team deserve praise.
