ANKARA: A military plane carrying a routine training flight crashed in Turkey, killing the pilot.


According to the World News Agency, the plane, which was performing aerial skills and stunts during military exercises and important national celebrations in Turkey, went missing shortly after takeoff from Konya airport.


A rescue operation was launched to find the plane after it lost contact with the control tower, during which the wreckage was found in a plain in the center of Konya city. After landing, the plane caught fire.


The body of the pilot has been recovered from the burnt wreckage of the plane. An inquiry committee has been formed to determine the cause of the accident.


President Tayyip Erdogan has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the pilot who died in the plane crash.
