Following the cabinet meeting, the Turkish president announced a nationwide lockdown until May 17 over the rise in deaths due to the epidemic, saying all schools would remain closed during this time, while inter-provincial transport would be subject to government permission. In addition, only a limited number of people will be able to sit on public transport.
