This wooden chair is worth Rs 131 crore! 

HONG KONG: The seemingly modest chair in the picture, though made of wood, has recently sold for 8.5 million (approximately PKR 130 million) in Hong Kong.

According to the details, this chair belongs to 17th century China, which was made for a king of the Chinese "Ming Dynasty". This chair is made of lightweight but strong wood and can be folded.

Such chairs are also called "Chinese Xiaoyi" which are still made today and sold at high prices. However, hundreds of years ago, when the Chinese king and members of the royal family went hunting, such chairs must have been included in their luggage.

The Chinese Xiaoyi was engraved with fine and delicate work. Upon arrival at the hunting ground, the chairs were opened, but only the king or members of the royal family could sit on them.

For this reason, it was also called the "royal hunting chair", which was considered a symbol of affiliation with the royal family.

Another such royal hunting chair was auctioned off at a museum in Beijing in December 2018 for about ً 4 million (approximately PKR 620 million), but the recent auction of Chinese Xiaoyi from Hong Kong's "Christie's" auction broke previous records. Has also been left far behind.
