ANKARA: A helicopter crash has killed 10 military personnel, including two Turkish generals.


According to a foreign news agency, the Turkish Ministry of Defense says a military helicopter crashed in eastern Turkey, killing 10 military personnel, including Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Usman Arbis and National Development Party leader Diolat Bahchli.


According to Turkish daily, after inspecting the crash site, it was initially known that the helicopter had crashed, but no further details were provided. The crashed helicopter did not make contact 30 minutes after takeoff.

The helicopter crashed in the Tatwan area of ​​the Kurdish-majority province of Batlis. The crash site is in an area where the Turkish military is battling the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).


Earlier in 2017, a Turkish military helicopter crashed in the southeastern province of Sirnak, bordering Syria and Iraq, killing 13 soldiers.
