New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated a bridge connecting India and Bangladesh which will boost trade between the two countries.


According to the International News Agency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the "Maitri Seto", a bridge of friendship, built on the Feni River between the Indian state of Tripura and Bangladesh through a video conference.


The 1.9 km long bridge between India and Bangladesh connects the Indian town of Sabrom with the Bangladeshi town of Ramgarh. In addition to transportation, the bridge will be used for commercial purposes.


Regarding the trade corridor, a statement issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said that with the construction of the bridge, the state of Tripura is ready to become the gateway to northeastern India, accessing the Bangladeshi port of Chittagong, just 80 km from Sabrom. Will get


Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Modi said that the bridge would strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries and boost trade activities.


Narendra Modi added that the bridge would provide access to Tripura as well as South Assam, Mizoram, and Manipur to Bangladesh and Southeast Asia, while new train and water projects would be set up.
