Doha: The Gulf state of Qatar has enacted a law on minimum monthly wages and other benefits for migrant workers, under which the employer will be obliged to provide accommodation and food to the employees along with the salary.
According to the International News Agency, Qatar has become the first Gulf country to implement a law on salaries and benefits for migrants and foreign workers.
This law will come into force immediately, which the employer must comply with, otherwise, a fine may be imposed. The implementation of this law will also end the sponsorship system in the country.
Qatar's Ministry of Labor, Development and Social Affairs has confirmed that under the new law, the minimum monthly wage for a foreign employee working in the country is set at 1,000 Qatari riyals, while companies are required to provide accommodation and food for foreign employees. Is also required to manage.
If the companies themselves cannot provide accommodation and food to foreign employees, then the employees will have to pay 300 hundred riyals per month for food and 500 hundred riyals separately for accommodation.
It should be noted that five Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, have recently signaled the resumption of diplomatic and trade relations with Qatar, after which trade activities are likely to increase.
