Election Commission React to the Prime Minister's allegations

ISLAMABAD: Reacting to the Prime Minister's allegations, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said that we cannot ignore or amend the Constitution and the law to please anyone, so let us work and do not throw mud.

After a special meeting on the statement of Prime Minister Imran Khan by the Election Commission of Pakistan, the Election Commission issued a statement saying that we are thankful to God Almighty for holding the Senate elections in accordance with the Constitution and the law. Ended.

I was saddened to hear the statement of the Prime Minister

The statement said that it was saddening to hear the views that came to our notice through the media after the election results, especially some members of the Federal Cabinet and especially the Prime Minister of Pakistan said in his address yesterday.

If anyone has any objection, take the constitutional route

The press release said that in this regard, it is clarified that the Election Commission is a constitutional and independent body, it has to see what the constitution and law allow it and that is its 'standard'. Cannot ignore or amend the constitution and law to please If anyone has any objection to the orders / decisions of the Election Commission, let them take the constitutional path and let us work independently, we have not come under any pressure and will not come, God willing.

The Election Commission makes decisions without coming under pressure

The ECP said that any delegation wanted to meet us, we listened to their views, reviewed their proposals in detail but the ECP performs its duties only in the light of the constitution and law and independently without any pressure. Makes decisions to promote democracy among the people of Pakistan.

If they win, they accept and if they lose, they reject. Isn't this an open contradiction?

The statement said that it was astonishing that those who lost in the presence of the same staff in the same electorate under the same roof on the same day, those who lost, and those who won were accepted, isn't that an open contradiction? While accepting the results of all other provinces, the Election Commission rejects the result on which comment and displeasure have been expressed.

Everyone should have the spirit to admit defeat

The ECP further said that every political party and person should have the spirit of admitting defeat. If there is any difference, come and talk with evidence. If you can hear your suggestions, then why not complaints, so let us work. But don't throw mud. Realize that the Election Commission, by the grace of God, will continue to carry out its constitutional responsibilities in an efficient manner for the sake of the rule of law and the Constitution.

Legislation is not the job of the Election Commission

The press release said that this is the beauty of democracy and free elections and secret ballot which was seen by the entire nation and this was the intention of the constitution. What was the impediment to getting the views expressed in the parliament? The function of the commission is not to legislate but to uphold the law. If the constitutional institutions continue to be ridiculed in this manner, it is tantamount to their weakness and not that of the Election Commission.

Election Commission meeting on PM's allegations

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan in his address to the nation had made a statement on the Election Commission to harm democracy. The Election Commission of Pakistan held a special meeting on the statement of the Prime Minister regarding the Election Commission. Officials were present.

According to sources, the Returning Officer briefed the Election Commission on the seven rejected votes during the counting of votes in the Islamabad General Seat. The Election Commission had yesterday sought a record on the allegations made by government ministers against the Election Commission, which they received.

The meeting chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner reviewed the statement of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The meeting also reviewed the PTI's request for leaking Ali Haider Gilani's video before the election.
