Lahore: A three-day security training workshop for bloggers and human rights defenders was organized by the Pakistan Press Foundation at Avari Hotel.
On the occasion, Security Consultant Syed Tahir Mehmood conducted training exercises for the participants to assess their physical and psychological security as well as to assess the risks during fieldwork and to make it a permanent habit to take precautionary measures.
He also imparted practical training to the participants on self-defence and first aid and analyzed the incidents of attacks on journalists, bloggers, and human rights activists by terrorists and other elements in various incidents, and suggests safety measures that can be taken.
Digital security expert Asif Iqbal briefed the participants on the security of their digital devices, data, and information and taught them how to avoid hacking, harassment, damage, and misuse of information by hackers and unwanted elements. The training workshop was organized in association with the Civil Society for Independent Media and Expressions.
The training workshop coordinated by Laraib Sheikh while the participants included journalists, bloggers, and human rights activists from Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Muzaffargarh, and other cities. At the end of the training, certificates were also distributed among the participants by PPF.
